Description

Orange  red to brownish red crystalline powder Odorless.

Solubility

 Slightly Soluble in cold water, more soluble in hot Water ( about 1 in 4 ): slightly soluble in alcohol, nearly insoluble in ether, chloroform, fixed oils and liquid paraffin.

Identification

Complies identification test 1 to 5 as per BPC 49.

Clarity of solution

A 0.2 % solution in water remains clear on standing in the dark for 24 hours.

Certain other acridine derivative test

Dissolve 0.2gms in 100 ml.of saline at.30.c,a clear sol. is produced , witch remains  clear and free from sediment on  standing in the dark at 15. to 20.c for 24 hours.

Loss on Drying

Not more than 5.0 %

Residue on ignition

Not more than 1.0%

Assay ( Content of total acridines )

Not less than 95%
