Derquantel, also known as 2-Deoxoparaherquamide, is a semi-synthetic anthelmintic drug, primarily used in veterinary medicine for the treatment and control of gastrointestinal nematodes (worms) in livestock. It is often used in combination with other anthelmintics, such as Abamectin, to broaden its spectrum of activity and manage resistance among parasite populations.

Derquantel acts as a selective antagonist of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in nematode muscles, thus blocking the cholinergic neuromuscular transmission. This leads to flaccid paralysis and death of the parasites, followed by their expulsion from the body.
Derquantel is an anthelmintic used in veterinary medicine. It is a spiroindole, which is used in combination with other anthelmintics, e.g., Abamectin in Startect®, for treating and controlling gastrointestinal nematodes in livestock, particularly sheep. At the recommended dose, Derquantel effectively targets Haemonchus spp., Cooperia spp., and Trichostrongylus spp. of nematodes.
